Experience
In July 2017, I taught a daily three hour English reading, writing, and speaking class to 16 students at a two week summer school intensive in Khövsgöl, Mongolia. Students levels ranged from near complete beginner to SAT test prep level. As a part of a gap year before starting at Columbia, I lead weekly beginners English classes for three months at a rural school in a village near Bali, Indonesia. Additionally, I worked as a teacher's assistant at a summer school in Los Angeles for underprivileged fourth and fifth grade students. I received a 5 on my A.P. Literature exam, a 710 on my SAT I Reading Section, a 790 on my SAT I Writing Section, and a 720 on my SAT II Literature Test. I was twice awarded by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for articles I wrote in my high school newspaper, and I am now a writer and former editor for Columbia's largest undergraduate student newspaper, "The Columbia Daily Spectator." I have also written for the primary English-language newspaper in Mongolia, "The U.B. Post."
